Traditional SEO for Website Design is Long Dead.
It’s not enough to have a good-looking website design. It’s not enough to have a great marketing plan. It’s not enough to have unbeatable services, product, location— etc. If you aren’t showing up favorably in the search engines, it all could be a moot point. Normally, I would link to an authoritative article that would further outline and help to support my theories, which I’ve developed over time, and with experience. This time when I Googled “why you must show up on the first page”, I didn’t get anything that was of terrible interest to me except many articles concerning various social media outlets including, Pinterest, Facebook, LinkedIn and the like. Or course I could have rephrased my search, but after a brief moment— this sank in and then I snapped to the fact that the results to my search engine query perfectly illustrated the point I wanted to make with this article. Having a well-built website simply isn’t enough to put you and your business over the top!
So Many Concepts!
It’s much more complicated than that. There’s that old beast known as social media marketing! Shares, likes, votes, links, circles— authorship, on and on. Then there’s the code, micro-formats, mark up, meta elements, etc. If you’ve got an average web designer, they may be familiar with all these concepts, but are you sure? How about site speed, server tweaks? Then there’s an entirely different industry known as link building. How exactly does that all work? Long tail traffic? Niche Links? Video? Online reputation?
Is Your Head Spinning?
The online world is in a constant state of flux, and growth. With those comes change and rapid change doth occur! There’s no perfect recipe, and no perfect web designer— but when you do select a web design firm, they should have a firm grasp on the basics, not be employing any sneaky tricks, and better be in the business for the long haul, because getting a website to a good position in the search engine results pages, especially for competitive keywords take time! Not to mention effort and a consistent plugging away, using best practices and most of all great content! It doesn’t matter whether that content be text, graphics or video.
Quality Content Wins the day.
The search engines will reward those that take their time, and write for their target audience, and have something valuable to say and share. Remember, readers if moved to share will do so via their free will! The better the content, the more the shares, the more social interaction via or about your website, the better you will place in the search results.
