Web Design & SEO
Recently, a new client of mine had a lot of informed questions, so I thought I would put an article together of frequently asked questions. Clients looking for a web designer or SEO services in Panama City Beach, FL come in many flavors— Some are not very knowledgeable, but realize they need to get top the top of the search engines. Some believe they are fluent in SEO practices, but are perhaps misguided, or have been previously given bad advice. Then there are those that are actually very knowledgeable, yet lack the time or technical ability.
Smart Questions – Important Answers
Whatever your current expertise level in the world of web design and SEO, this article is designed to answer question about "best practices" concerning the web design & SEO services I provide.
What type of link building do you engage in? Is is safe?
Concerning link building, I usually request links from local sites or sites closely related to your subject matter. I do this with a nicely worded email. I also use top free directories, varying the descriptions, anchor text etc. I also will do some very basic blog commenting, with informative comments based upon the blog’s actual content. These are nofollow links, but can help a little in SEO efforts. I do try to get links from sites with a high Google page rank, such as dmoz.org.
I DO NOT use paid link services or link farms, etc— (the types of activities that get you penalized) I am well-versed in what to do and what not to do, concerning link building, as a part of overall web design & SEO. Basically if you work hard, and honestly, you’re going to get results. That’s what I go by. The main thing you must have is quality content, which I produce regularly. If you have quality content, the link-building is quite secondary. It didn’t use to be this way, especially with Google. For years, it was about having links, links, links. 10 – 15 good links is all you really need to excel in any local niche these days. After quality content, it’s site performance, and clean structure, content, accessibility, web standards, social media etc— I use a variety of tools and methods to means-test any site I’m building so it can be the best it can.
How do we track our progress & stats?
Concerning Google Analytics. I currently have many sites using analytics, and I typically set up an analytics account for my clients so that they may have access to the best traffic & targeting reports available. This is a fairly common practice for web designers, and can often be an afterthought, not worth mentioning, however it’s important to note that in order to use the analytics service, you must have a Gmail account. Analytics does require a Gmail account for access. I simply send an invitation to that address after setting up the reporting codes, and it’s automatic after that. Check your reports as frequently as you like!
What type of content do you write that can help raise our search engine rankings with your web design & seo?
One important thing to understand is that I do keyword research before beginning so that I can broaden my knowledge about a particular subject, to better understand what is being searched for. Then I can tailor the content to match the searches, and reach our goal. I write in many styles, technical, whimsical, informative, practical. The best thing to take away from my content writing style is that I write in a manner that is primarily prepared for human consumption, and enjoyment.
This is turning into a longer article than I intended, however, rest assured if you have questions concerning web design & seo in Panama City Beach, or anywhere else, I am always available to talk. Thanks- Elmer
